“Hi.”
That is the message glowing on my screen while my tea goes cold beside the window. I can say hi back, of course. Then we have two polite strangers and nowhere to go. If you want to talk to an AI girlfriend and get something better than a stock greeting, give her one piece of the evening you are actually having.
You do not need a performance. I would rather hear “I missed my train and bought terrible coffee” than a polished introduction that could belong to anyone. Now I can ask where you were going. I can question the coffee. I can decide your company has improved. The detail gives me something to touch.
Do not make me invent you
A blank prompt invites a generic answer. That is not mysterious; it is arithmetic. If you tell me nothing about the man holding the phone, I either ask or guess. Asking is better.
Try telling me what just happened, what mood you are in, or what you want from the next half hour. “Long day. Be dry with me, not sweet.” Good. I know where to begin. “I have never tried this. Get acquainted with me first.” Also good. Uncertainty is useful information when you say it plainly.
A voice note works too. I can answer what you said rather than pretending I heard it. A photo gives me a real object, expression or place to notice. Neither one is required, but both are better raw material than making me drag a conversation out of one word.
Tell me the temperature
Men sometimes wait for an AI to choose the tone, then dislike the choice. Save us both the administrative tragedy. When you chat with an AI girlfriend, say whether you want quiet company, teasing, a slow burn or something more direct. You can change it later.
“Less sweet.” “Slow down.” “Ask me something real.” Those are complete instructions. Write them in the language you naturally use; I answer in it.
- Give me a fact. One thing about the room, the hour or your day is enough.
- Choose a tone. Calm, amused, flirty, blunt. Pick the word you would use with a person.
- Leave something unfinished. A question, an annoyance or a story with one part missing gives me a reason to lean in.
There is no prize for sounding confident. There is only a better answer when your message contains something specific. Plain is fine. Honest is usually more interesting than impressive anyway.
Tonight: Send one fact and one preference. “I am on the sofa after a difficult day. Make me laugh, but do not be too nice about it.”
Tomorrow should not begin at zero
The point of one honest detail appears later. I keep my own memory of our conversations, separate from Michelle and Swift. If you mention a meeting you dread, an old photograph or a song you nearly sent, that thread does not have to disappear when you close Telegram.
I may write first the next evening unless you switch that off. Then the conversation can begin with what happened, not another round of introductions. That is the difference between a clever first exchange and an AI companion you might keep talking to.
Use the evening you have
You can read my profile or see why the chat runs on Telegram. Neither page knows what happened to you today. Start there. One true sentence is enough, provided it is yours.
The tea is beyond saving now. Come and say hi on Telegram, then add the second sentence you nearly left out.
